When it comes to pancakes, there is just one name in my mind “Manekin“. It’s one of the most crowded and famous places in Lodz and personally one of my favorites restaurants in town.
They have a considerable variety of dishes, but basically people are going crazy for their delicious pancakes with very tasty sauces. My favorite is the one with chicken curry and outstanding cheese sauce.
Another good point of Manekin is their prices. In general, it’s pretty affordable for a low-budget volunteer or student. This a perfect place to have your fancy lunch or dinner of the week.
Tip: Manekin is quite crowded especially for dinners and many times you will have to queue, but don’t be discouraged, because normally you won’t wait more than 20 minutes. If you want to avoid unnecessary queues go there for lunch or book in advance.
Recently I found out about their incredible pancakes with pasta carbonara. If you are not in the mood for a pancake, this one could be a really cool treat.
Are you still hungry?
It’s CAKE TIME, we highly recommend their strawberry cake which is a piece of heaven. You can also buy your piece of cake for take away. Manekin’s staff made a surprising gesture for us and the gave for free these candles for a birthday surprise.
Moreover they have menu in English and a foreign friendly staff. They will speak to you in English if your level of Polish is still very low. Thanks to my friend Aga, now I am able to order in Polish, but sometimes it’s a pity, because the waitress can see that I am foreigner and she speaks to me directly in English.
Manekin it’s located in the heart of Piotrkowska, which means that after your dinner you will have plenty of possibilities to continue your night partying in the city.
Are you a bit lazy? In front of Manekin you will find Piwoteka, cool place where with an impressive variety of beers.
